Labor Day Weekend

I found this package deal in the Travel and Leisure magazine for a food package at the James hotel. I’ve been wanting to eat at the Primehouse for awhile now and thought this seemed like a great deal... The package was definitely all about food and included:
  • A bottle of wine selected by David Burke’s Primehouse resident Sommelier or wine paring for each course
  • Exclusive Three-Course Chef's Tasting Menu for Two at David Burke’s Primehouse
  • Private tour of the Himalayan salt-tiled dry aging room at David Burke’s Primehouse
  • "Meat"-and-greet with Chef to learn special seasonal grilling tips
  • A copy of David Burke's cook book for recipes to try at home
  • In-Room Classic Breakfast for two
When we got there we found out that we had gotten bumped up to the King Suite! See pictures in the Labor Day Weekend Album. It was a pretty contemporary hotel, definitely updated. It even had a separate room with couch/bed thing with a projector to watch movies.
Anyways, on to our Dinner at the Primehouse...
Drink #1: Gruet ($20)
Pre-Appetizer #1: Goat Cheese Stuffed Tomato (free!)
Pre-Appetizer #2: Asiago Popover (free!)
Drink #2: Riesling ($24)
Appetizer #1: Wagyu Beef Sashimi ($15)
Appetizer #2: Tuna Tartare ($12)
Drink #3: Chardonnay ($24)
Main Entree #1: King Salmon with Bok Choy ($29)
Drink #4: Cabernet Sauvignon ($32)
Main Entree #2: 40 Day 20 oz Bone-in Ribeye ($49)
Side Dish #1: Chipotle Cream and Cilantro Corn ($6)
Side Dish #2: Cauliflower Gratin ($6)
Drink #5: Marenco ($24)
Dessert #1: Homemade “fill your own” Doughnut Holes ($9)
Dessert #2: Slice of Prime ($10)
Since I was really curious, I looked up the prices online... Comparing the food that we got with the food on the other tables, it looks like we got the full portions of each dish. We even got full glasses of wine with each one, which I thought was strange... Anyways, totaling up dinner it was about $263! GHEEZE!! Good thing my VERY drunk boyfriend tipped our waitress well!
But the hype of Primehouse was well worth it, the steak was delicious! Even Adrian loved it!! According to their website here is the explanation of the bull on the right ...
“Prime” is a proud, masculine, 2500 pound Angus bull that roams the rolling green pastures of Creekstone Farms in Kentucky. Prime consistently produces offspring that achieve the coveted USDA quality grade of Prime. That is why we decided to buy him and make him part of our family to make sure that all of our guests at David Burke’s Primehouse receive the highest quality beef.
So all in all it was a GREAT staycation weekend. After doing the (nerdy) math, our king suite hotel room was MOST DEFIANTLY WORTH IT!

Pictures from this weekend are here...
Now if only we didn’t have to go to work tomorrow, life would be wonderful.
